A Roundup of Halloween Workshops in Ireland (For Grown Ups)

It is the season of ghosts, pumpkins and people getting suspiciously good at face paint. If you are looking to lean into the Halloween spirit without buying a polyester cape, we have you covered.

These workshops are for grown ups. No face painting stations, no glitter glue, no one screaming about sweets. Just some creative people, some unusual materials, and a few chances to make things with your hands before the end of October.

Here is what we have found.

Pumpkins, Petals and Prosecco

This one comes from Why Not Flowers in Inchicore. It is exactly what it sounds like. Carve a pumpkin, make a bouquet, have a glass of prosecco. It is relaxed, hands on, and strictly over 18s. Sessions are running on the 22nd & 23rd of October and usually start at 7pm. You will need to book in advance. It sells out quickly.

Linocut Workshop – Halloween Edition

If you like the sound of carving things but not necessarily vegetables, there is a Halloween linocut workshop happening on Camden Street in Dublin. It is hosted by Art in Layers and focuses on hand carving and printing creepy illustrations. Runs Saturday 19 October at 2pm. Expect tools, ink, sharp lines and probably some inky fingers.

Ravens and Red Wine – Sip and Sketch with Rachel Burke

This is a drawing workshop for adults who want to draw something spooky while sipping something red. Led by Rachel Burke and designed to get you sketching without worrying about doing it perfectly. It happens on 30 October at 5.45pm. You bring your curiosity, they bring the paper.

Pumpkin Decorating and Hand Stitched Pumpkins in Moate
This one is at Tuar Ard Arts Centre in the Midlands. You will decorate a real pumpkin and also stitch a small soft one from fabric. That is two pumpkins for the price of one. It runs on 23 October from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. Booking with Alex (089) 238-1766 @artboxworkshops

Halloween SFX Workshop

The Dock in Dublin is hosting a special effects makeup workshop on 18 October from 11am to 2pm. It is aimed at adults and covers the basics of bruises, cuts, scars and general spookiness. A good one if you are more into latex and colour theory than costumes off the rack.

Create Your Own Halloween Soy Candle Workshop with MuMe.ie

Make your own Halloween-themed soy candle at MuMe.ie’s workshop on Sunday 26 October, 2–4pm, at Amo&Pax Studio, Kilmacanogue, Wicklow, A98 XY66. All materials provided book early to secure your spot!

What to Bring (Besides Yourself)

A willingness to try something new. Clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy. Maybe a friend to share the creative fun with. And if you like, a notebook to jot down ideas or sketches while you work.

That is it for now. We will keep an eye out for more Halloween workshops in the coming days. If you are hosting one, feel free to drop us a line.

See you soon, and happy making.
